Marie Quinn begins as our Organist/Choir Director on

January 1, 2022.

 

Marie C. Quinn has held the position of Organist/Choir Director since the age of fifteen. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Savannah State University, and Master of Music degree from the University of South Florida. She continued her graduate studies at the University of Southern California, University of Hawaii, Westminster Choir College and the Hartt School of Music.

 

Marie has taught at public schools in Georgia, Hawaii, and Connecticut. In Connecticut, she taught music at Regional School District Eight for over twenty-five years. While teaching, she has been the Organist/Choir Director at Lee Memorial in Norwich, SUBASE in Groton, and the Naval Base in Newport, Rhode Island. During the summer, she served as the organist for First Church in Griswold, Connecticut.

 

Marie is a member of First Church in Griswold, Connecticut. She lives with her husband, Frank Fireall Quinn. He retired as Senior Chief of the US Navy, and does volunteer work at the SUBASE. They have two sons. Frank Edward Quinn, is Assistant Principal at Glastonbury High School and lives in Simsbury, Connecticut. His wife, Lisa Argenta, is an Art teacher at Bolton High School. They have a nine-year-old daughter, Gibson Avery. The Quinn's youngest son, Justin Kiah Quinn, lives in St. Louis, Missouri, and is a Lawyer, CEO L2eSolutions, and Commander in the Navy Reserve. His wife, Tanya Marie, is a Neurosurgeon. They have two children, Elliot Katherine, ten-years-old (daughter), and Ronan Fireall, seven-years-old (son).

Our music programs include:

KIDZ Praise
 
This Children's Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings. Children are welcome to participate. The choir sings numerous times throughout the year.

THE ADULT CHOIR

meets on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00. They sing during the at the 9:00 service on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, and at the 10:30 service the other Sundays of the month. New voices are always welcome!

THE HANDBELL CHOIR

meets on Tuesday evenings from at 6:15. This group plays at various services throughout the year. We ring using two octaves of Schulmerich Handbells. We encourage anyone who enjoys ringing, or would like to learn and can read basic rhythms. Beginners’ workshops will be held when there is interest.

BIBLE STUDIES

 

Monday Morning Bible Study

The Monday Morning Bible Study will be getting together at 10am. Please contact Chris Burden for any questions.

 

TUESDAY EVENING group will continues through March 28.

The Clothing Shed is open.

We accept all soft goods: clothing, shoes, blankets, curtains, towels, etc.

We are so excited to be planning for a 2023 Scarecrow Festival. The date is set for Saturday September 23, 2023. 10 AM till 4 PM. This will be our 15th festival. The festival is going to probably look a little different but it is still going to be all about fun for the whole family and community.

We are looking for a coordinator for the Scarecrows. We need many volunteers and coordinators to make it successful. A list of areas that need coordinators is posted on the bulletin board outside Dudek Hall.  PLEASE add your name, phone, and e-mail to the list if you would like to help. Meetings will begin in January via Zoom on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM.
