Reverend Raefield Perteet, 30th Minister

Reverend Raefield Perteet grew up in Lansing, MI. He comes from a family of ministers, so at a very early age was inundated with the nuances of worship and church life. Ordained at the age of 18 in the Church of GOD in Christ, Rev. Rae is no stranger to ministry. In 2005 he received a BS in Management, with a minor in Hebraic studies from Oral Roberts University. He also earned a master’s degree in Theological Studies from Boston University in 2009, with accompanying course work in public preaching undertaken with the late Rev. Dr. Peter Gomes at Harvard University and Andover Newton Theological Seminary, and creative writing work done at UCLA.

He started his ministry at Vessels of Life Church in Lansing, MI, where he served for four years as an associate Pastor before commencing his studies at Boston University.  While in graduate school, he discovered the NACCC and fell in love with its free-thinking members and biblical perspectives. He was then blessed to continue serving in ministry for six years as Pastor of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Taunton, MA.  Afterwards, he was called to serve as senior Pastor with the Congregational Church of the Chimes in Sherman Oaks, CA. Rev. Rae has also been accorded the chance to worship and share with universities and congregations of various faiths all across the United States, and has served in ministry to spread the Gospel for 20 years.

While serving in these capacities, Rev. Rae has also found ways to continue with his first love of grassroots ministry, serving the disinherited and disfranchised, by partnering with nonprofits to serve meals to the homeless, working with at-risk youth in the LGBTQ+ community, and other volunteer efforts.

His ministerial philosophy holds that “it is imperative that we all strive to be better people, in order to create a better world, and that we trust in God for a better afterlife.” Accordingly, his ardent desire is to help others reach their highest potential, while equipping them to enjoy the journey along the way.  Every chance to enter the pulpit serves as an opportunity to provide healing and empowerment for the body of Christ.  Rev. Rae is a voracious reader, and during his down time always enjoys immersing himself in a good book or delving into a research topic. Other hobbies include swimming most days of the week, and going out for walks with the family and furry ones. On occasion, when time permits, he also enjoys woodworking and restoring antiques.

The congregation endorsed Rev. Rae as our 30th minister on April 11, 2021. He began his ministry at Preston City Congregational Church on July 26, 2021 and led his first worship service on August 1, 2021.

Our next Bingo is Saturday, August 27 @ 2p. We will also have sessions Saturday, Sept 3  and Sunday, Sept 4, in the afternoon.

We are one of the non-profit organizations that assist at the games selling cards and receive funds which are used to offset our budget. Please sign-up if you are able to help; we need three workers to sell cards at each session. The sign-up to help is on the Bingo calendar posted on the mid-level bulletin board just outside the Sunday School hall. Lee Ann Fessenden, Lisa Fessenden, Shirley Hodkinson and Sue Riley are the co-chairmen this session.
